I am a professional stone carver and artist and work to the highest possible standards. I studied Fine Art up to MA level, where my theoretical thesis and my three dimensional work explored the concept of time, for which I received a distinction.
The perception of time is a fundamental interest of mine. The passage of time is closely related to stone, the material that I primarily use.
The ideas I translate into three-dimensional form are either my own or are developed with the client, to suit a specific purpose. I see this development as an exchange between artist and client through which the final piece will be pushed far beyond initial expectations.
I have project managed a number of large commissions, running a 10 month project, employing a team of 8 people to produce artworks for the 5 Star, Sandy Lane Hotel in Barbados and have recently completed a year long project for Rugby Council for street furniture.
I work with educational organisations whereby I work with the children who create drawings and models. I then interpret that into a piece of stone sculpture, so creating a truly collaborative piece of work.
I have done extensive work in schools (age ranging from 4 to 16 years) and have run public workshops where communities have been involved in the design and decision making process. I run evening classes open to the general public at my studio and have also run art projects with young carers and have worked with a special needs school. I have a good understanding of how to inspire and motivate people of all ages.
My track record demonstrates my ability to engage and collaborate at all levels, as well as my ability to see large projects through to a successful conclusion, within a specified timescale.
